ABC EPA Woman of the Year Award
This award recognizes and honors an ABC EPA woman who has contributed to creating opportunities for other women in the construction industry as well as presenting a positive image for women in the construction industry. ABC EPA’s Management Education Committee is pleased to offer a recognition program for women at all levels of our industry. The program honors women who serve as role models, mentors and advocates for opportunities for others in the construction industry, especially in efforts to broaden opportunities for women. The winner will be selected by the Management Education Committee each year from timely submitted nominations and honored at the ABC EPA October Member Recognition Dinner.
Wendy Hook has had a dramatic effect on the lives of many ABC members. Wendy and her team at AFLAC have done a tremendous job bringing more security to ABC AFLAC clients. Since 2002, when she was named AFLAC Rookie of the Year, Wendy has had a string of promotions and awards culminating in being named District Sales Coordinator. Wendy has built her AFLAC business from one account into a team of 40 agents with hundreds of accounts.
Wendy’s fervent commitment to ABC’s community involvement has made her an admired leader in ABC. She has participated in raising funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society for the past 11 years through the MS City to Shore Bike Ride, the MS Mud Run and numerous other MS walks and other fundraisers. She has served on the committee for the Greater Philadelphia MS Society. The MS Society is particularly important to Wendy, whose mother was diagnosed with MS just after her youngest sister was born.
Wendy has also raised funds for the AFLAC Children’s Cancer Center. She is a lifelong resident of Chester County and is active with the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry, where she serves on the Women in Business Committee.
Wendy is a member of the Board of Directors for ABC Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter and is a chair for the Membership Involvement Committee. She recently married Sean Higgins.
