Tell us about your job and what you do:
I manage costs on all of our Site projects within Allan Myers.  I work with our Project Managers to accurately track costs, recognize and recoup change order costs, and accurately project our gains and losses for the jobs throughout their duration.  I process and submit all billings to our owners and make sure we get paid in a timely fashion as per our contracts.  I manage our cash flow on our projects and forecast our revenue for each project.

Favorite Quote:  “If it does not challenge you, it does not change you”

Most rewarding professional experience: I would say the most rewarding professional experience is when you see that you have helped other co-workers grow and develop in their career.  All of the hard work and time you have spent helping them along the way pays off when you see the influence you have had on them and how they have been able to become a successful individual within the company.  Knowing you have made a difference in their lives both professionally and personally is a huge reward.

Hobbies: I love to exercise.  I especially love when I can “work out” by staying active outdoors in the warmer months.  I like to go for runs, bikes, or hike the Delaware Canal by my house.  I also like doing yard work because it is so rewarding when it is all done!

Advice for other young professionals: Give 100% of what you have every day.  Never give up and always ask questions. The people around you are there to help and are usually very willing to see you succeed.  Always honor your commitments and follow through with what you say you are going to do- even if this means letting someone know you don’t know the answer.  Letting that person know the truth is better than leaving them in the dark.

As a producer with Wharton Surety & Atlantic Underwriting, I help contractors obtain surety bonding credit. Bonding is required for government funded projects as well as select large, commercial projects and by helping business owners/executives obtain their desired levels of bonding credit, I help them grow their respective business.

WHAT IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR DAY?
The highlight of my day is meeting new people! I've always thoroughly enjoyed getting to know new people and learning about their lives, their families, and their personal goals. The fact that my job requires me to meet new people every day is why I love being in sales.

HOW HAS YOUR INVOLVEMENT IN ABC EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA CHAPTER HELPED YOU?
Being involved with ABC Eastern PA has been a great experience for me as it has helped me to meet more people with whom I have a lot in common and also helped me grow my business. Amanda Strzempek was the first person I met from ABC and she has continuously gone out of her way to make introductions and ensure I continue to get value out of the time I spend with ABC.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE?
"Make and Effort, Not an Excuse"-- Not certain who originated this quote, but my Grandmother used to say this to me when I would make excuses for why I did not think I could achieve my goals. Eventually, the advice sunk in and I realized that if I stopped making excuses for myself and I simply put forth the required effort, I could accomplish whatever I set out to do.

WHAT BUSINESS/LEADERSHIP/PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT BOOK DO YOU RECOMMEND?
"How to Win Friends and Influence People-- In the Digital Age" bu Dale Carnegie. The book had very relevant and updated information/tools that I believe each and every one of us can benefit from in today's digital world. It was a very well written book and was a quick and easy read. Well worth your time!

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OUTSIDE OF WORK?

I am a serious foodie. My wife and I head out most weekends to find the best food in the Philadelphia area. We love taking "walking food tours" around the city or suburbs while we sample the best appetizers, snacks, and dishes. We also schedule these walking food tours into our vacations as we travel around the country. In my opinion, Philadelphia has some of the best food/chefs/restaurants in the country, so do yourself a favor and take a Saturday or two to explore the food scene in Philly! Also, feel free to ask me for suggestions, I'm happy to guide you!

LESSONS YOU'VE LEARNED IN YOUR CAREER OTHER YPS SHOULD HEAR, OR LEARN FROM?
When I first started to get involved in ABC, it was uncomfortable and intimidating, but I believe that is what helped me to get out of my comfort zone and continue to shape who I am today. I have always tried to compare myself to other YPs, and learn as much from them as I can.

HOW HAS YOUR INVOLVEMENT IN ABC EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA CHAPTER HELPED YOU?
All of the relationships I have formed, and mentors I have learned from, have transformed me into who I am today, and who I strive to be like. ABC Members are always willing to help the YPs.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE?
"If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OUTSIDE OF WORK?
I love spending time with my family (especially my 2 year old son), riding my motorcycle, and running.

DO YOU HAVE ADVICE FOR OTHER YOUNG PROFESSIONALS?
Given to me by Paul Ziegler from Allan Myers; 1. Be on time, 2. Show up every day, 3. Keep an open mind.
